Alibaba announced the Zhenwu V900 accelerator and a future Qwen model roadmap at its Apsara Conference on September 22. The chip's commercial launch and mass production are planned for the first quarter of 2027, according to Alibaba. Qwen 4 is in training, but the company gave no release date.
Zhenwu V900 is planned for 2027
Alibaba's chip unit T-Head announced the Zhenwu V900. The company lists 216 GB of memory and 1,200 GB/s of inter-chip bandwidth, and says the accelerator delivers three times the performance of its predecessor. Those specifications and the performance comparison come from Alibaba; AP's report confirms the announcement but does not independently benchmark the chip.
Alibaba also says its Zhenwu platform serves more than 650 customers. That figure is a company-reported customer count, not evidence that the V900 itself is already deployed.
Qwen roadmap has no release dates
Alibaba said Qwen 4 is in training and presented Qwen 4.5 and Qwen 5 as future steps. Its presentation referenced future models scaling to 5 trillion to 10 trillion parameters. The company did not announce launch dates for those models, and the parameter figures describe roadmap ambitions rather than released systems.
The announcement places chip development and model plans under Alibaba's broader full-stack AI strategy. The dates and capabilities remain forward-looking: the V900 is targeted for 2027, while Qwen 4 has no announced release date.
