Anthropic expanded Claude for Small Business on September 15, adding 43 ready-to-run workflows and 27 integrations across every paid Claude plan. The release introduces hooks into platforms including Shopify, Salesforce, TikTok, Atlassian, Zoom, Xero, Gusto, Square, Stripe, and Zapier. Anthropic recommends its Team plan for multi-person organizations.
The release broadens a system first introduced in May as basic connectors and packaged routines. According to Anthropic, the underlying small-business product has recorded more than 900,000 installations to date, though the company has not published active-seat, retention, or productivity figures. Anthropic describes the 43 new setups as targeting growth and daily operations alongside traditional back-office tasks, spanning inbound customer inquiries, lead generation, project proposals, reporting, marketing, bookkeeping, and payroll preparation.
Default Approvals and Plan Permissions
For IT owners and small-business operators evaluating automated agent behaviors, the integration architecture retains firm procedural checkpoints:
- Approval mode by default: Workflows do not execute external actions autonomously upon setup. Claude drafts or stages messages, records, and financial operations, requiring a human user to review and confirm before sending, posting, or issuing payments. Owners can enable specific workflows to run on their own and switch them back as needed.
- Existing access controls: Connected apps respect the existing access tiers and user roles configured in third-party software. Claude cannot circumvent account permissions already enforced within those platforms.
- Data-training boundaries: Anthropic states that customer business data is excluded from model training by default on Team and Enterprise tiers. The announcement does not establish the same boundary for every paid plan.
Alongside the digital rollout, Anthropic announced free in-person workshops across ten U.S. cities, partner webinars running from late September through November, and more than 150 organizations trained as Approved Claude SMB Trainers.
Distinct Salesforce Enterprise Beta
Anthropic separately introduced “Salesforce in Claude,” an Enterprise-only beta plugin built with Salesforce. It features 37 specialized skills focused on CRM updates, account research, call preparation, and pipeline review. Like the small-business routines, the plugin requires human approval before CRM updates and operates under existing Salesforce permissions.
